St. Catherines

Posted on August 23, 2018July 10, 2019 by Desi Traveller

St. Catherines is a city in the famous Niagara region.

We drove to St Catherines this weekend. It was a beautiful summer day not too hot, no rain few clouds almost perfect to be outdoor. We drove on highway 403 and as usual in summer weekends, it was quite busy. What should have been less than an hour and half drive turned into two and half hours. We had fun in car though, had some cookies, chips ginger ale to keep us in good mood.

Once we reached here, we were starving so we decided to have lunch first. After going back and forth in google search (where else eh?), we decided to go to Italian restaurant Amore easily the best decision of the day.

The food experience was amazing, all the items were freshly prepared and quite delicious. The dishes we had were Saganaki, Brie de Mediterranean,  Cream of Tomato soup, Quiche, Pizza Margarita, Pizza, Pasta in Alfredo sauce, Pasta Primavera followed by deserts which again blew us off.

By the time we left, we were so full we had to drag ourselves to the car. The consolation was we were going to walk around hoping to burn those millions of calories we consumed.

Then we moved to Welland Canal Lock 3, there was a massive ship just going in the waters. It was great experience to see it sail.

From there we started on Niagara on the Lake drive. We made a stop at local winery, it was a beautiful to watch lanes of grapes nicely cut and arranged. The tables were set up for a private party in decked up lawn, almost felt like gate crashing.

Moving on, we reached village, parked on side of the road and walked to central village area.  The kids had ice cream at Cow’s, we wanted to but it was really coffee time so opted for nice cup of organic coffee across the street at Nina’s Bakery. BTW, the tiramisu was a treat, not-to-be-missed!

By the time we walked around the streets, it was late evening. Reluctantly, we started walking back to where cars were parked and made our way home.
